Research Areas:

§  I have worked on several research projects the last several years with my main research area working with invasive plant species and also testing the fertility of a plant species.

§  Undergraduate Research:

o   Reed Canary Grass (2009)

§  Looked for allopathic effects of roots in different nutrient levels on growth and germination of radish seeds and Reed Manna Grass seeds as some of the wetland plants that we wanted to evaluate did not germinate.

§  Advisor: Dr. Proctor

o   Common Buckthorn (2010-2011)

§  Looked for allopathic effects water and methanol extracts from berries of the Common Buckthorn on the growth and germination of lettuce seeds.

§  Advisor: Dr. Proctor

§  Funding: Biology Department Undergraduate Research Grant

§  Graduate Research:

o   Capeweed (Arctotheca prostrata)

§  Worked to test the fertility of Arctotheca prostrata found in California as it is fertile in its native range in South Africa but is said to be not fertile in the California populations. Also tested for allopathic effects on various parts of the plant on germination and growth of lettuce seeds.

§  Advisor: Dr. Mahoney
