Every term, each student in my Astronomy 115 course (Life in the Universe) was assigned to write an essay giving his or her opinion on the following question:

Essay Quotes: Science


1. In order to answer the question, we must look into many branches of science. Biology, Physics, Mathematics, Geology, and Cosmetology.


2. I don't believe that there is life in our galaxy at the moment. I say this because we don't have any science to show us that there is.


3. So, to answer the question as to whether I believe there is intelligent life out there in our galaxy, I would have to answer "doubtful". But this answer, is of a personal belief as which would be most answers to this question. This is for the simple fact that there is so much unknown knowledge of our galaxy and it is hard to answer a question of this nature based on limited information.


4. We do not know anything for sure and if there is anything to actually know, but one thing we have learned over time is it never hurts to search and experiment.


5. Since astronomers have been studying the universe since the beginning if time they have been able to study our galaxy and have pretty much ruled out any hope that there is any life other than ours in this galaxy. They have not been able to travel to other galaxies to do research.


6. Our planet seems to be fairly original in science.


7. What science can't look at is that perhaps the IET is living off other elements that we don't know exists, this is a possibility as well, but it is not scientific so I cannot write about it in this paper.


8. To attempt to answer this question is impossible, this is science, and there are no real facts, only well accepted theories.


9. The life here on Earth is so immensely complex that even with the technology that is available scientists know almost nothing about it.


10. In astronomy there are no true facts but just educated guesses.
